Milledgeville Market Place. A Downtown Farmers Market and a Milledgeville Main Street Project, opens on Tuesday, May 4th and is scheduled to run through October 2010. The market will be held every Tuesday, 4pm - 7pm.
Deep Roots Festival - Saturday, October 23, 2010, Milledgeville, GA. Deep Roots is a cultural arts and music festival that is located in historic downtown Milledgeville and composed of regional and national talents, artists, and vendors. It beckons travelers from all over with an antique car show, live entertainment ranging from bluegrass to rock-and-roll, artist market, and a KidZone. The festival will also once again hold a MBN sanctioned BBQ cook-off contest featuring the ever-popular People's Choice award that will draw BBQ connoisseurs from around the Southeast.
Our artist market is sure to be largest yet featuring vendors from all over the Southeast and once again, the GCSU Art Department. Here festival goers can experience live demonstrations, face painting, caricatures, tie-dye and even purchase local students art!
Haunted Trolley Tours - October 25-28, 2010, Millegeville, GA. Would you like to see the darker side of Milledgeville? Then take a ride on Milledgeville's 10th Annual Haunted Trolley Tour!Sponsored by the Convention & Visitors Bureau, the tour will be haunting the residents of Milledgeville, October 25-28 with two tours each evening at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. This year's event will introduce some new ghosts and the ever-popular "adults only" tour. The latter tour will feature stories and characters that might not be suitable for the faint of heart! The ghosts of times past will once again come to life as visitors come aboard the trolley.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, October 1 and will be available at the Convention & Visitor's Bureau office located at 200 West Hancock Street.
Old Governor's Mansion Christmas Candlelight Tours - December 4 - 23, 2010, Milledgeville,GA. Come and celebrate a true Antebellum Christmas at the Old Governor's Mansion! Witness the Mansion transform into a scene from the 1800's. From December 4th thru 23rd, it will be featuring true Antebellum decor and they will also be hosting several candlelight tours throughout the month. Regular tours are held on the hour daily. Knoxville Bottom Kiln Firing & Pottery Sale - Saturday, December 4, 2010, 10:00 am. The kiln will be fired on November 21 beginning around 8:30 am and the sale will be on December 4 with numbers being handed out at 10:00 am and the actual sale starting at 1:00 pm.

Irby was born and raised in Putnam County and returned to Putnam after the war where he farmed, served as a commissioner of roads and revenue and raised his family. His home is now the Rock Eagle 4-H Center property.
